The official opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure is only a few months away (June 15th) but if you just can’t wait that long to see their E-ticket ride Radiator Springs Racers then you will want to check out the video below. Some Disney Imagineers stuck a camera on one of the cars from the ride and gave it a run through then posted it to YouTube for our viewing pleasure. Now, we don’t get to see everything in the video but we do get a quick peek at what is inside of the mountain range of Radiator Springs. Check it out!
Yesterday it was announced on the Disney Parks Blog that Cars Land (along with other new attractions) will officially (and finally) open to the public on June 15th 2012! On June 14th California Adventure will be closed to the public as they get things ready for the big open and give the media a preview. So there you have it! If you are like me and have been waiting impatiently for Cars Land to finally open, now you have a date to mark on your calandar. Although if you are going to visit on opening day I would reccomend bringing several books, a spare battery for your cell phone, and various hand held video game systems as you will probably spend a LOT of time in line! I am already hearing rumors of hardcore fans making plans to camp out the night before!
If you have been paying attention to this blog over the last 6 months are so you should know that I am pretty damn excited for the opening of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure this summer. So when I heard that there was a new behind the scenes exhibit opening up at the park I was all over it! In this exhibit (located in the “Blue Sky Cellar” at California Adventure), there are scale models and concept art that inspired all of the up coming Cars Land attractions, as well as the entire Cars Land area in miniature! Seeing all of these art pieces up close is pretty inspiring if you are the creative type. If nothing else it will make you even more excited for Cars Land if you weren’t hyped up already. If you are visiting Disneyland any time soon I highly suggest checking out this exhibit. Otherwise just check out my pictures below instead.
The opening of Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure is approaching but not quite fast enough for people like me who are overly excited for it. To really get people drooling, Cars Land will be part of the “Preview Nights” at California Adventure March 27th through the 29th. During these previews, guests will get guided tours and sneak peeks of upcoming attractions. In regards to Cars Land, there will be early access to shirts and other merchandise before the official opening. The only catch is that you have to be a Disneyland annual pass holder to get into the previews. Examples of a few shirt designs can be seen by clicking the thumbnails below.
Things at Cars Land are starting to come together with more speed now as you will see in this “fast motion” video of the “imagineers” working on the exterior paint of Ramone’s “House Of Body Art” paint shop. I love that Disney is showing us so much of the behind the scenes work to bring Cars Land to life. I am dying to see the finished product!
Today we bring you another sneek peek of the upcoming “Cars Land” opening at Disney’s California Adventure Park. In this video the “Luigi’s Flying Tires” ride not only gets tested but is tested by the creator of Cars and Pixar helmer John Lasseter himself. For those who don’t know the Flying Tires ride is really a throw back to a “Flying Saucers” ride that Disneyland used to have back in its early days. However instead of UFOs riders sit atop of giant tires as they glide around. Essentially you become the puck on a giant air hockey table, but you get to control the puck! I am definitely looking forward to taking some tires for a spin when the ride opens this summer. You get it? Tires? Spin? Do you see what I did there?
We have another update from the rapidly progressing construction of Cars Land at Disney’s California Adventure. Today Disney released videoof the “Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree” ride going through the testing process. From what we can see it looks like the ride will be a variation on the famous (or infamous) “Tea Cup” ride at Disneyland but a little bit easier on the stomach if you catch my drift. The cool part is that you get tow’d around by the tractor “cows” from the movie! Check out the test video below.
There are still several long and agonizing months before Cars Land officially opens at Disney’s California Adventure park but every time an update comes in from the “Imagineers” it feels a little bit closer. In the latest update we get to see the team erect the 35 foot tall ”leaning tower of tires” outside of “Luigi’s Casa della Tires” which will be the site of the “Luigi’s flying tires” ride. Seeing everything come together makes me feel like a kid on Christmas morning getting his first remote control car. Yes, I went there… Anyway, if you want to see the tower of tires go up and get a quick preview of the flying tires ride then scroll down and watch the video below.
I have been excited about the upcoming “Cars Land” at Disney’s California Adventure as soon as I learned of its development but the wait is horrible! Watching Cars 2 just made it worse! What does help however is this neat little virtual drive through released by Disneyof what Cars Land will look like once it is completed in 2012. Remember this is a “virtual” drive through so naturally the real thing will have a lot more detail but this is a cool way to get a feel for what the layout will be.
Disney-Pixar just released a new Cars 2 trailer today which looks even better than the last trailer! I don’t care how childish I look right now I can’t wait for this movie! Check out the new trailer below as well as a official press release that gives away the actual specs of the characters. Did you know that Lightning McQueen has 750HP? Find more fast facts and tidbits in the release below the video.
