Its official, Need For Speed Heat is officially the next game in the NFS series. The reveal happened just moments ago after that countdown I mentioned yesterday finally hit zero.
Once the clock ran out, the world got a glimpse of Need For Speed Heat in a new cinematic trailer (watch below). As you can tell from the title, this definitely is not the Need For Speed Underground remake that the fans have been clamoring for. However, I get the sense that Need For Speed Heat may be similar in nature.
The first major hint of things to come is the police featured prominently in the gameplay trailer. It seems that Need For Speed is going back to its racer vs cops roots; which is something I think the fans will be pretty happy about.
The game takes place in Palm City, which seems to be a fictional version of Miami. Like Need For Speed Payback, Palm City will be an open world environment meant for players to freely explore.
During the day players can compete in “Speedhunter Showdowns” which are sanctioned, legal racing events which “Bank” (AKA money) is earned to buy new cars and customize cars already owned. At night, players participate in illegal street races to earn “Rep”.
Though at night is when the cops become a factor. Actually according to EA, the cops in Need For Speed Heat are actually a “rogue police task force”. And if they catch you they’ll take all of your earnings.
Beyond that, will also be an overall narrative involved, which from the trailer, appears to center around a female main protagonist. Though, no further narrative details have been revealed yet.
What has been revealed is that there will be more cars, more challenges, and more customization. That includes the ability to customize the look of a personal avatar.
We also know the release date. Need For Speed Heat is slated to be released on November 8th, 2019 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Unfortunately the Nintendo Switch was left out.
Members of the EA Access service will get to play the game 3 days earlier on November 5th 2019.
You can pre-order Need For Speed Heat starting today and there are several pre-order bonuses to be had. Starting off, all pre-orders include a free “K.S. Edition” Mitsubishi Evo X for the player’s in-game garage.
Pre-ordering the deluxe edition will grant players three “K.S. Edition” cars including a BMW i8 Coupe, Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe, and Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. It also includes accesss to exclusive clothing items for the in-game avatar, and increased earnings of “Bank” and “Rep”
I’m not sure what “K.S. Edition” means but I would guess that “K.S.” are likely the initials of a character in the game that has yet to be revealed.
A full gameplay trailer is set to debut five days from now so I am speculating we will likely get more info then.
For now, you can watch the cinematic reveal trailer below. Afterwards, let me know what you think. Are you excited for Need For Speed Heat? Will you pre-order it right away? Or are you reserving judgement until you see more? Let me know in the comments below or tweet to us at @MotorworldHype.
