2020 Acura NSX Brings Indy Yellow Pearl As Color Option

Back when the NSX first hit the USA in ’91 one of the most popular colors available from the dealer was Spa Yellow. An extremely bright yellow hue that practically beat the eyes of onlookers into submission. That’s how we liked it back in the 90s!

As time went on, the NSX got less and less yellow; until the car faded away from Acura’s line up. In 2016 it made its triumphant return with two turbos and a few electric motors for good measure. Though, what didn’t return was the screaming yellow color that adorned its predecessor.

That is, until now. Just before the annual Monterey Car Week, Acura has announced that the NSX will once again be available in a bright yellow color. Though, instead of bringing back Spa Yellow, they have opted to go for a new hue called “Indy Yellow Pearl”.

They refer to the color as a “modern interpretation” of Spa Yellow. While Indy Yellow Pearl definitely looks good, I can’t help but wonder why they didn’t just bring back Spa Yellow rather than “interpret” it?

I suppose it doesn’t matter as long as what they picked looks good. I know that yellow supercars can be a polarizing subject but personally I think certain cars can pull it off very well.

I wouldn’t have imagined the current NSX as being one of those cars but as I see it here, I actually really like it. I think it adds a certain something. A bit of extra drama that I think the current NSX was lacking if I’m being honest.

“Indy Yellow Pearl” is one of two current “Heritage colors” being offered by Acura for the 2020 NSX. The other heritage color is “Berlina Black” which is in fact the same hue that was offered on previous generation NSXs. It was also one of my favorite NSX colors from back in the day.

I would expect some pics of that to show up soon. For now, feel free to check out these shots of the new Indy Yellow Pearl 2020 NSX by clicking the thumbnails above or in the gallery below.

Afterward, let us know what you think. Do you like the color or is it too much 90s nostalgia? State your opinions in the comments below or tweet to us at @MotorworldHype.
