SEMA 2016: This Slant Nose Porsche 997 Blends Old School And New School Perfectly

One of the most talked about builds in the pre-SEMA rumor mill was this crazy Porsche that was totally going to blow people’s minds.  At the time I didn’t really know what that was going to mean and then BAM a last minute reveal set Instagram on fire as the team at iDL Design USA digitally unveiled their project: a Porsche 997 but with a classic “slant nose” front end.

If you’re unfamiliar, the “slant nose” was a style that originally made its debut back in the 70s on the Porsche 935.  The slanted design was directly influenced by Porsche’s race program at the time and Porsche fans fell in love with it immediately.  To this day, an original slant nose Porsche will fetch a pretty penny provided that you can find someone who’s actually willing to part with it for something as silly as money.  That being said, it shouldn’t be very surprising to know that slant nose Porsches are quite difficult to obtain.

That is where Japanese aero artisans Old & New come in.  They designed an aero kit very much inspired by the 935 of old but meant for the Porsche 997 with the obligatory wide-fenders for good measure.  Old & New teamed up with iDL Design to ship the first Slant Nose 997 kit to the US to make its SEMA debut and what you see here is the result.
