A while ago Forza Motorsport announced that they would be teaming up with one of the biggest eSports entities ESL to launch a Forza Motorsports competitive online racing tournament for players of various skill levels. Today, competitors can now sign up for season one of the Forza Racing Championship (Forza RC) over at the ESL website. As I mentioned before the championship is open to players of all skill levels but those who qualify for “Elite” competition will have a shot at winning a 2017 Ford Focus RS. You read correctly, like a real Ford Focus RS not a virtual one!
How does one make it into the Elite competition? Well each week during the season Forza Motorsport will post a new “Forza RC Elite Series Rivals Qualifier” event. The qualifier will seed the weekly “Forza RC Elite Series Cup”. The top 16 racers from the weekly series cup will then compete in a “Forza RC Elite Series Showdown” race which will be live-streamed on Forza’s official Twitch channel every Sunday.
The top 4 drivers from each Showdown event will qualify for the Forza RC Elite Series Grand Finals which will also be live-streamed on Forza’s Twitch channel on September 4th 2016. The winner of the finals takes home the 2017 Ford Focus RS.
As you may have deduced, Ford is a sponsor of the Championship series which also means that participants in either the Elite or “Open” series will be driving various Ford’s in the Championship events including the Ford Mustang GT, the Ec0-Boost Formula Ford, and the 2016 #66 Ford Racing GT LeMans race car.
Also, if you aren’t the best Forza player in the world don’t worry, there are still plenty of other prizes to be won. Competitors in the “Open” series will have chances to race for various DLC prizes like the NASCAR expansion, the Porsche expansion, and other special DLC cars and liveries.
It sounds like a pretty good time to me. You might just see the MotorworldHype gamer tag in the mix! Again, if you want to give the Forza Racing Championship a shot, you can sign up now. Competition starts on August 8th, 2016.
