OK, I’ve been doing a lot of racing game stories lately but it can’t be helped since E3 is coming up. Today it was announced that the Lamborghini Centenario, a new model that will likely be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, will be the cover car for the next Forza game coughcoughForzaHorizon3coughcough. As the name suggests the Lamborghini Centenario is a celebration of Lamborghini’s 100 year history. Can you believe that? It’s really been 100 years since Enzo Ferrari pissed off Ferruccio Lamborghini so much that he went off and started his own car company! I bet the two of them are still arguing over that inferior clutch up in Heaven.
Anyway back to the matter at hand! The Centenario will actually be available “First In Forza” which means players of the Horizon Thr-err the new Forza game will get a chance to virtually experience the hyper car before its available for incredibly rich people to buy. Furthermore, since the team at Turn 10 Studios and Microsoft have a bit of an “in” with Lamborghini they have revealed some preliminary numbers for the Centenario. It will have a 770HP naturally aspirated V12 engine, go from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds, o to 182mph in 25 seconds, and will have a top speed over 217mph. While numbers like that are kind of expected from the likes of Lamborghini, they are still nothing to scoff at.
Rumor has it that after the car makes its debut in Geneva in might make a quick trip out to Los Angeles to hang out in Microsoft’s booth at E3 this year. If so I’ll make sure to get you plenty of tasty pictures. In the meantime you can check out a short but sweet Lamborghini reveal video that Microsoft has put together, along with the official press release about the Centenario becoming the new cover car.
Forza Lamborghini Centenario Reveal Video:
The 86th annual Geneva International Motor Show kicks off this week in Geneva, Switzerland – and in the spirit of the event, we’ve got some big Forza news to share. Xbox and Forza developer Turn 10 Studios are partnering up with Lamborghini to feature the all-new Lamborghini Centenario super sports car as the cover car of the next chapter in the critically-acclaimed Forza racing series.
We’re not quite ready to unveil the title or any big details on the next Forza game yet – you’ll have to wait for our Xbox media briefing at June 2016’s E3 for that – but the Centenario will be available “First in Forza,” which means that millions of Xbox One owners across the globe get to experience the virtual version of this incomparable car before it makes its debut in the real world. With its V12 architecture, the Centenario’s naturally aspirated engine produces 770 horsepower, powers from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds, and from 0-300 km/h in 23.5 seconds – with a top speed of more than 350 km/h.
In other words, it’s really freaking fast. And you get to see it for the first time in Forza!
“We’re excited to continue our long history of working with Lamborghini and to be part of their 100-year anniversary by celebrating the Centenario as the featured cover car of the next Forza game,” said Head of Xbox Phil Spencer. “It’s an honor to announce our partnership at one of the world’s biggest automotive shows, and we look forward to unveiling the game at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo.”
What’s more: Starting today, Turn 10 Studios’ Lamborghini Super Trofeo series will create a platform that engages the automotive and gaming communities in a brand-new type of motorsport.
