Late last night the official twitter account for the Fast and The Furious films officially announced the release dates for the next three films in the franchise. Yes, you read correctly; a new trilogy of films will be released between 2017 and 2021. According to the image tweeted out (which can be seen below) Fast 8 will debut April 14th 2017, the untitled 9th film (probably furious 9) will release April 19th 2019, and the tenth film will drop April 2nd, 2021. With 10 films under its belt, Fast And Furious will become among the longest movie franchises of all time.
Keep in mind that this doesn’t count the rumored spin off movies starring the “Hobbs” character played by Dwayne Johnson and another rumored spinoff staring Eva Mendes’ character.
Haters of the Fast And Furious films may be confused as to why Universal would go in on three more films but they would have to be reminded that the last movie made over a billion (yes with a B) dollars in the worldwide box office.
What do you think of this development? Are you excited for more Fast And Furious movies? Do you think the franchise can last until 2021? Do you think there will be more films after the tenth? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or tweet to us @MotorworldHype
