Video Game Hype: The New Need For Speed Game Will Be Known As…Need For Speed! (Video)

Well, as I mentioned yesterday the new Need For Speed game would be revealed today by EA Games and true to their word we got a few juicy new details about the next game in the Need For Speed series including the first teaser trailer (below).  First, many (including myself) speculated that the next game would continue their “Underground” series.  However, as it turns out this new Need For Speed game is not so much a sequel as it is meant to be an entire reboot of the franchise as it moves into further into the current generation of consoles.

Developed by Ghost Games, the same team behind Need For Speed: Rivals the new Need For Speed game will take place in a “nocturnal open world” and promises to be heavily influenced and accurate to “urban car culture”.  Expect to see a lot of customization and the inclusion of brands like Rocket Bunny, possibly RWB, and Vaughn Gittin Jr’s Mustang RTR as seen on the official Need For Speed website.  They also promise to provide an “immersive narrative” which means there will definitely be a story at the root of all the action.  Furthermore, the development team figured the best way to keep things authentic is to have their very own car culture website consult on the project.  Yep, those sneaky little buggers at SpeedHunters have been behind the scenes of the game this whole time and didn’t tell anyone!

Need For Speed is targeted for an “Autumn 2015” release window and is still in active development right now.  Although, I am taking a guess that there may be a playable demo at E3 this year, as the first full trailer will be released at E3 as well.

So to recap, this what we know so far:

-New Need For Speed will be “current gen” only (PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4)
-The game will take place in an open world.
-There will be cops and they will probably chase you.
-Customization will be kind of a big deal this time.
-There will be a story.
-The game will release sometime in Autumn this year.

What do you think about the new Need For Speed so far?  Are you excited for it?  How do you feel about the reboot?  Was this the right move or are you disappointed that this game isn’t Need For Speed: Underground 3?  Let us know in the comments or tweet to us at @MotorworldHype.  For now check out the first official teaser below and press release.
