Formula One racing is finally coming to the “current gen” consoles! Codemasters has just announced that the next installment of their F1 racing series, F1 2015 is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in June 2015 AKA this summer. Normally Codemasters’ F1 games release towards the end of the season but this time they are doing things differently by releasing the game earlier and adding to it via DLC over the course of the season.
They have also announced that F1 2015 will use an entirely new game engine which promises more realistic physics which they say will vastly improve the handling model over previous games. In addition to the physics upgrade players can also expect to see a brand new “broadcast presentation” visual style which could add to the realism of the game. One of the biggest changes is the addition of voice controls which allow players to communicate to their race engineer to get data. The Xbox One version will use Kinect 2.0 for this function and the PlayStation 4 version will use the PlayStation camera.
All that stuff is awesome and I am looking forward to it, but my biggest hope for F1 2015 is that they make the cars sound better. That was my one complaint from their F1 2014 game. I know the cars don’t sound as good in real life anymore but I think this is one area where it might be ok to fake it a bit eh, Codemasters? Anyhow, if we’re lucky I’ll get a chance to review the game before its released this summer so I can give you my take on it.
