It looks like the “lets bring people back” casting trend that started in Fast & Furious 5 is continuing with the next movie as it has just been announced that Lucas Black of Fast & Furious: Tokyo Drift has been cast for Fast & Furious 7. In fact, not only has he been cast in the next film but his contract with Universal Studios is actually a three-movie deal. So, if Universal decides to make a Fast & Furious 8 and 9 then there is a good chance Black will return for those films as well.
Lucas’ role in FF7 has not been detailed but since “Tokyo Drift” is technically the last film in the Fast & Furious time line chances are he is out for avenge the death of his mentor (and member of Dom’s crew) Han. If you haven’t seen FF7 yet I won’t spoil it but I will say there was much more to Han’s death than a car crash (keep watching through the credits!).
With Black’s return Universal has just about brought everyone back for a second appearance since 2 Fast 2 Furious. So, far it looks like the only person who hasn’t been called up again is Jin the MC! But hey, with two more possible films in the pipeline I am sure we will see him again too.
