There are many people who enjoy racing in their leisure time. They might not have the talent to run in the top tier series but they still seek the thrill of real racing competition. For people like that there are things called “arrive and drive” programs. An arrive and drive is self-explanatory in that to participate all you need to do is pay a fee and show up to the track for a race weekend. No worrying about sponsorship or buying, storing, or transporting a race car. These programs are common in feeder series such as MX-5 cup, Skip Barber, an the like and will typically cost anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000 per race weekend.
However, if you have a little more cash in your pocket to burn then Lamborghini wants to talk to you. You see for a mere $17,500 (per driver which totals $35k per car) you can be one half of a Lamborghini Super Trofeo team for a race weekend. For the price you get up to 4 hours of track time in a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo race car, racing suit, the whole nine. It should also be noted that the Super Trofeo series will serve as support races for Indy Car and ALMS race weekends.
All things considered, $17.5k for all that isn’t half bad. Of course any interested party would have to have a racing license and probably some degree of previous experience will likely be required. Either way, its one heck of a way to blow almost 20 grand in a single weekend!
