Recently, a very select (and very small) group of auto journalists were invited to Rome to drive the new Lamborghini Aventador. My invite was lost in the mail (insert rim shot here). Needless to say I was not happy about being left here in Long Beach while my peers were off in the land of Pizza and Nutella driving my new dream car. The only thing to appease my pain was this video that I came across featuring the Aventador rip-snorting around a Californian desert. The video seems to be a commercial but is never officially labeled as such. At first I thought my buddy Sam Hubinette was the driver (he drove in the video spot for the Murcielago SV) but I was surprised to learn that the pilot was none other than former Formula Drift competitor and current Hollywood stunt driver (his latest gig was the box office busting Fast Five) Rich Rutherford. You can attribute the rest of the video’s entertainment to the Sehsucht GmbH production team who was hired by German ad agency Phillipp und Keuntje. Turn up your speakers and watch the fruits of their labor below.
