When it was announced that a 5th “Fast & The Furious” movie was heading to theaters a few within the industry cringed a bit and began writing their jokes early for what many thought would be a cheeseball fest of technically inaccurate car quotes and corny special effects. When the first trailer for what was now being called “Fast Five” was released and the world learned that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be going toe-to-toe with Vin Diesel then a few eye brows were raised and somegot interested. When the next trailer full of muscle cars, explosions, and destruction was released tickets were pre-ordered. When it was all said and done Fast Five raked in 33 million dollars on opening day alone. That is the biggest April opening day ever recorded! Once the weekend was over Fast Five ruled the box office taking in a total of 83 million dollars!
This just shows that despite all the jokes and rips on the past movies, there are still plenty of people willing to watch Vin Diesel and Paul Walker live their lives “a 1/4 mile at a time” on the silver screen…
