When it came to the impending Japan Indy 300 race it seemed like all people could talk about was Danica Patrick. Don’t get me wrong Danica is great and it was cool that she got her first win in Japan. However it astonished me how no one was really pointing out the fact that if Ryan Briscoe kept his cool he would lock-in the 2009 Indy Car title! He had just enough points to mathematically shut out Scott Dixon and Dario Franchtti. Although as you may have guessed from the post title it didn’t work out that way. For the most part Briscoe had the race in the bag until a pit stop accident dropped Briscoe all the way to the back of the pack and 15 laps down from the leader. Target team mates Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti the lead with Graham Rahal in tow and that was all she wrote. Now instead of being on top Ryan Briscoe is 25 points back from first place to 8 points behind new points leader Scott Dixon. Now its all coming down to the final race at Homestead Miami on October 10th! Check out the race highlights below.
